Icon has done extensive testing of the shear connectors. In each test we analyze the load and deflection of the samples. The Double Shear test allows us to minimize external variable providing reliable data that can be used in calculations. We then take our data and do full scale beam tests to verify the test numbers match the real world results.
This Industry standard test produces a load deflection curve. By pushing the middle layer of concrete in plane we create a shear load that mimics real world forces. The data we receive from this test gives us predictable deflections of the icon connector for any load.
32' long by 4' wide panels were used to confirm the computer generated load deflection curves. The computer modeling proved to be very accurate in predicting the load capacity, deflection and cracking moment of the full scale panels during testing.
